I know I'm probably a little late to write this but I like to share my story. A few years ago a guy was dating starting about how he would like a Pit Bull; So I got curious and starting doing research about the breed. He had decide to rescue one, he was very loving, playful, just a big lap dog. Then a few months later, I decided I wanted to see about adopting or rescuing my own. That's when I found Zoe, she had a rough life, wasn't fed right, and was abused. She took a little while to warm up and realize that I wasn't going to hurt her. She became a completely different dog. I also found that she was something I was looking for too. So, now I have Zoe and Richter, I wouldn't trade them for anything. Everyday they bring a smile to my face and heart.

I had never heard the term 'pit bull' when I began looking for a second dog to add to our family- dogs were just dogs to me. I had an appointment lined up to talk with the folks who handle adoptions of the racing greyhounds, when a customer at my workplace mentioned that his dog had puppies, and asked "Wouldn't you like to meet one?" When I asked what kind of dogs they were, he said "Staffordshire Terrier mix", to which I replied "I'm really not interested in little dogs- I'm looking for a big dog." He replied, 'Don't worry, he'll be big!' He brought these two puppies in the back seat of his Jaguar (stylin' puppies!) and met me after work. He said the little girl was staying with him, but the little boy was available, and placed him on the ground. I don't know why, but that puppy ran to me, and we belonged to each other from that moment on. As Sagan grew, people began to say that he was a pit bull, to which I would reply, "No, he's a Staffie mix!" Needless to say, I had a lot of learning to do at that point. I raised Sagan with other dogs, cats, chickens and geese. He was truly a breed ambassador and taught me more about loving than I'd ever known. I miss my dear Sagan every day, and try not to measure other dogs against him. Thank you Sagan, for 13 amazing years. And a welcome to Beau, a real diamond in the rough and an adult rescue. I could love any dog, but I'm dedicated to the bullies!

I was like many people, afraid of the killer breed.  My husband and i went to the humane society and we adopted a boxer/lab. People would comment how she looked part pit. I was so concerned that i asked my vet what they thought, they reassured me no pit. About 2 years later, my now 3 yr old son was playing outside at my in-laws house. The neighbor dog (daschund) ran up to my son and bit the right side of his face. My son ended up having to have his lower tearduct reconstructed, he had puncture marks on the right side of his face. when we took my little boy home he was so afraid of our dog we had to keep her outside. I couldnt take my son out without him freaking out seeing all the dogs.  A neighbor girl had a litter of pit bull puppies that were just born. My son thought they were something other than dogs. But as they got bigger, my son bonded with them. We had to get one for him, he begged us. We brought our pit bull puppy home when she was old enough, and since then my son has no fear of any dogs. At first when he would see a dog that looked like the one that had attacked him, he would say that "chocolate (what he named his pit bull) will eat its face off like otis (name of the dog that attacked my son) did to me. This was the start of my love for this breed. They are so gentle, and loving. Our pit bull knows when one of us is hurting physically and emotionally. She is there to make us all feel better. I just wish everyone could have an "AH!" moment like i did. The moment i realized that everything you hear is nothing like it is! I love this breed so much!

The best part of my pack is my Pitty. She is the only dog who can run loose on my property . All my other sight hounds would be in the next county.

I have the best boy in the whole wide world!! He is the most loving, smartest, faithful breed I have ever known. I have owned a few other breeds - mixed, labs, and a husky and I will never own anything but a pitty. He just wants to be with us doing whatever we are doing. He wants to help at everything. He is a water boy, that loves to jetski, fish, swim, fetch and loves to dock jump. I am soo hooked on him. It is all how they are raised and treated. They are so stereotyped where I live they want to ban the bully breeds. Its up to the owners to raise them right. My dogs have all been raised the same, very loving, loyal and faithful, but this one is truly addictive.
